And we are off!
Folks, the schedule is officially up! If you haven't already be sure to check it out. Tournement Director Matthew Hebert warned us to be on the look out for some new and different water, and he did not disappoint. This is going to be an exciting year. Secondly, please get those dues in. This allows us to finalize the contact sheet, and determine our capacity for the year for new prospects, among other things. If you are on the fence, call me. This year is going to be special. The best way to do this is via PayPal, to Bruce Sargent. Also, I really want to take a moment and highlight the Triple D event this year. This event has been moved to April. That's right! No blazing heat strokes, and summer lull bites. This is a chance for us to get together as a club for a couple of days and catch giants! Make room on your calendars now, and please coordinate through Matthew Hebert. He needs a head count ASAP. Finally, we are planning on meeting more frequently this year. More to come on that front when we gather next week, so make sure you are there. I look forward to seeing you all on the 12th. We will be getting a quick start to the year so please, if you have not paid your 22' annual dues yet, you need to do so ASAP. Dues are due to Bruce Sargent via cash, check, or PayPal. The sooner we can get the 2022 Roster firmed up the sooner we can get the Contact Sheet updated and published. This years schedule is already in the works and close to completion. It should line up to be an epic year of fishing. So get your reels spooled and start prepping your gear. We will get started in one month, I repeat one month. Here is a update from our President Josh Dees regarding our first meeting, and first derby. Stay tuned... BBC Members, We will have our first club meeting of 2022 on January 20th. We will be discussing the up coming year as well as giving out our complete schedule for the year. If you have not paid your membership for the year please do so as soon as possible. Contact Bruce Sargent to make payment. Our first tournament of the year will be on February 5th at the Warrior River. The launch will be announced at the meeting. We are looking forward to a great 2022. Thanks, Josh Congratulations to this years Angler of the Year winners, and also to our Club Championship winners. You guys showed up and fished hard all year. Very proud of our turnout, lets keep it going for next year. Club Championship Winners: Championship winner on the boater side was Kyle Kimbrell, and the winner on the Co side was Lincoln Stewart. Both of these guys fished great all year, but they where not going to be denied that top spot during the classic. The pot was sweetened this year, and they capitalized. Great job guys! Our Angler of the year winners: This year on the boater side we had a tie that went down to the tie breaker between Scott Holmes, and Chris Wiemar. Chris took the top spot by having total weight through out the year. Congratulations Chris, and to Scott! On the Co-Angler side, Alex Roberts, aka Axle Rod got it done, with Wallace and Lincoln putting up a good fight along the way. Big congrats Alex, and continue that momentum into next year. Alabama Bass Nation: It has been a decade since the Birmingham Bass Club didn't send someone to the Bass Nation State Team, and this year we keep that tradition alive. Big shout out and congratulations to Jeff Corley, and Will McRee for not only making the state team, but also winning the Team side during the championship, and advancing on to the Bass Nation Team Championship as well. Jeff also scored big fish catching a giant 6.57 lb Lake Martin large head. The Team Championship will be hosted on Lake Eufaula December 8th - 11th, and because they won last weekend they will be awarded the $500 entry fee. The regional will be hosted on Smith Lake next year in April. Good luck guys! As a whole, we had 3 boaters finish in the top 20, and 7 co-anglers in the top 20. Outstanding showing this year. In Other News: Also, big nod to Travis Culbreth. Travis fished the Bass Open trail along with the Bama Nation Trail. He took 6th place at Lake Norman, 3rd place at Smith Lake, and 2nd place at Grand Lake in the Opens. He also still finished top 10 on the Nation side. What a year! We see you big boy! Yeah bud! Coming up: Our Next Meeting will be on November 18th (Venue TBD). This will be a big meeting. We have a lot to discuss. Here are just a few items. We will be reviewing the Club Classic, the Nation Championship, paying out the winners, paying your dues for next year (bring cash money), tackle swap (bring cash money, and tackle), voting on next years officer slate and much more. The proposed Office Slate is President: Josh Dees Vice President: Kyle Kimbrell Treasurer: Bruce Sargent Secretary: Jonathan Trowbridge Author~tro What does Lake Hartwell in Anderson South Cack have in common with the mighty Warrior River? Well, not a whole lot, except they both hold bass, and they both will have some of B'ham Bass Club's finest, fishing their waters this weekend. We want to send best wishes and best of luck to these boys on the 2020 State Team! Bruce Sargent, Scott Holmes, Jeff Greene, Lee Byrd, Charles Nowling, Chris Wiemar, and Travis (don't be that guy) Culbreth. Represent, fish hard and fish clean. The Regional officially kicks off on the 28th. If you would like to follow along and root for the home team you can find updates and weigh ins by clicking here. As for us holding down the fort, we move on to this years 3rd points event located on Bankhead Lake on the Warrior River. Same rules apply. We will launch out of Howtons Camp. I want to encourage you guys to get there EARLY, have your money ready to pay before we blast off, have your boat in the water ready to roll. The second it is safe to run we are sending it. We aren't waiting around so be alert, be smart, and be safe. We officially have 10 boats, and 6 no boaters. If you intend to fish please respond to that email today. We will pair and publish tonight. If you have a situation that does not allow you to fully commit at this time please let me know now so we can try and work with you. I know some of you have asked about our next meeting. We currently do not plan to host a meeting in April. It takes a bit more logistics and time to lock a place down these days, but be on the look out as we will try to gather in May for certain. Likely the beginning of May. Author~Tro This years season is officially underway, and you guys showed up! 29 Anglers with 18 boats. Great job guys. Some weather apps were predicting 10mph winds with gusts up to 20. Thankfully I did not see that today. Weather was great all day, and water temps in some areas reached 53. The pond was hit or miss today. Some areas they where biting and in some they wasn't. That's all you are going to get for now ;) , stay tuned for a full in-depth break down after the Bass Nation event, which I hope most of you are already registered for. Congratulations to todays winners. 1st place boater was my self Jonathan Trowbridge, followed way to closely by Bruce Sargent, and rounding out in 3rd place Matthew Hebert. Alex Roberts was crowned the king on the co-angler side, followed by Will McRee, and Wallace Williams in 3rd. Happy New year to you all. I hope the holiday season has treated everyone well. As hunting season is slowly starting to come to an end, fishing season is slowly starting to take off. With that said we have the new 2021 Schedule posted up. Please take a look and start marking your calendars. We will have a state wide digital copy to email out soon, so you can print or store on your phone/laptop etc. We will be hosting a wildcat on Jordan, for Jan 16th. Jordan fishes very well especially this time of year. Be sure to take advantage and knock the rust off before the season kicks off. Also, the Club Spotlight tab is up. If you have made the state team and would like your information posted please send me an email with the details. Finally, we did have a handful of prospects that fished with us at the last wildcat that we still need to get voted on. Trying to nail down a venue that will allow a meeting is still a bit unpredictable right now. We may attempt to do this via email so please keep an eye out for that. More to come soon! Derb Season is almost here! Author~tro First things first, a big congratulations to the B'ham Bass Club Angler of the year winners Jacob George and Shawn Price! As a club we was met with a lot of challenges this year, and through it all we showed up and showed out. Also a big shout out to this years TD Scott Holmes, President Josh Dees, and Membership Director Matthew Hebert, for making this year successful even under conditions this club has never seen before. Angler AOY: Jacob George with 790 points, Scott Holmes finished just behind with 785 points in what was a tight battle all year. Great stuff guys. CO-Angler AOY: The two time, the back to back, Shawn Price took home the top spot with 788 points. Keith Junkins made it an even closer race on the co-side, and proved to be a contender finishing second with 785 points. First year competitors Brian Jones brought home the bacon with Big Largemouth of the year weighing in at 6.23 lb's caught out of Pickwick, and Kent Glass solidified the big Spotted Bass of the year with a 4.3 lb stud caught on Lay Lake. Congratulations gents, I can't wait to see what you guys bring to the scales next year. As you all know, we are a federated club which allows all BBC members access to fish in the notorious Alabama Bass Nation trail. This year the club represented and produced four members on the state team, and two out of the three slots available to the team championship. Lee Byrd took the top spot winning the Angler of the Year. We had six members finish in the top twenty on the boater side, and four members on the co-angler side. We also had four teams place top ten overall at the championship. The State Team anglers will advance on to fish at the regional in April on Lake Hartwell located in Anderson, SC. The Teams Division advance to fish at Harris Chain Lakes in Leesburg, FL in Dec. All anglers are one step closer to fishing in the Bass Master Classic! Outstanding job this year guys, and we wish you all the best of luck at the next stage! State Team: Lee Byrd (AOY) Scott Holmes (1st at Neely Henry) Jeff Greene (1st at Martin) Charles Nowling (1st at Martin) Team Championship anglers: Scott Holmes and Travis Culbreth (2nd overall) Bruce Sargent and Wallace Williams (3rd overall) B'ham Bass Club Winter Wildcats: We are in the process of finalizing a mini-winter trail. These are wildcats and will not count in any point standings for the 2021 season. Look for an email coming out shortly to register. Note dates are subject to change. These events will be open to bring friends and family, or any interested prospects to fish. Must have one BBC member per boat. Lay Lake - Nov 21st Neely Henry - Dec 19th Cooter's Pond - Jan 9th Finally we will be hosting our year end meeting on Thursday Dec 3rd at On Tap Sports Café located 1600 Main St, Fultondale. Meeting will begin at 6PM. Reminder that 2021 membership fees are now due, so please bring them with you. If you are not able to attend, please send them to Bruce by check, cash, or PayPal.
