2024 EOY Update

What's up Birmingham BASS Club? This one will be a little longer than usual so hang on tight.

We have had two tournaments since the last update, our last regular season derb on Logan Martin and the Club Classic on Jordan! A format change with the Logan Martin event being a team tournament offered some excitement and new opportunities for some anglers! A foggy and cold morning on Logan Martin produced that bite we all dream of in the Fall - big spots on topwater. It turns out this would be what won the tournament, with Nick Layfeild and Alex Roberts bringing 10.25 lbs of Logan Martin spots. Joey Aderhold and Shawn Price made it close with a solid bag of 9.60, and Matthew Hebert caught the big spot of the year with a nice 3.95!

This tournament set the stage for the Club Classic, and while the Boater AOY race was all but decided with Matthew Hebert holding a 6 point lead, the Co-Angler AOY was a tight race. Alex Roberts held a tight 1 point lead over John Nolan, and low participation forced the few anglers who signed up to make some decisions. Ultimately, it was decided to fish one day on Lake Jordan so the Co-AOY race could be decided with some finality. If you decided to not fish this one...you didn't miss much. Fishing was extremely tough, with both Co-Anglers zeroing and Joey Aderhold coming in with 13.3 for the win.

Congrats to Matthew Hebert on not only winning AOY, but winning big Largemouth AND big spot. Truly a huge accomplishment!
Alex Roberts won Co-Angler of the year.

The Club recently hosted a Meeting on December 4th with strong turnout. Thank you to those who showed up, and it sounds like we will have some changes coming to the Club next year so stay tuned for those.

Lastly, Bruce is hosting a Club Open tournament on December 28th for those who would like to get down from the tree stand and fish!
